Your game is your business.

What the app stores

When you track a game, hogline saves what you enter: shots (type, turn, and accuracy), end scores, your position and team color, and timestamps for the game and each end.

On iPhone and iPad you can add more, and only if you choose to: a player profile (your name, home club and position), details for a game (the opponent, event, sheet, club, team and notes), and the seasons and leagues you sort games into.

That's it. This data is stored locally on your Apple Watch, iPhone and iPad.

hogline never sees any of it. The app has no servers, and no game data is ever transmitted to us or to anyone else.

iCloud Sync (optional)

If you turn on iCloud Sync in Settings, your games are stored in the private database of your personal iCloud account so they sync across your devices and survive a lost or upgraded watch. This is infrastructure Apple provides to every app:

• The data lives under your Apple ID, protected by Apple's iCloud security and encryption.
• It is not accessible to hogline: private iCloud databases can only be read by you, on your devices.
• Sync is off by default and can be turned off any time in the app's Settings.

Settings backup

Your app settings (Sounds & Haptics, iCloud Sync, and Appearance on iPhone and iPad) are backed up to iCloud key-value storage under your Apple ID, so a new device starts set up the same way. This works whether or not iCloud Sync is on, holds only those settings, and like the rest of your iCloud data it is not accessible to hogline.

Photos

On iPhone and iPad you can share a game or your player card as an image. If you pick Save Image, iOS asks for permission to add it to your photo library. hogline can only add images there. It never reads your library, and it doesn't ask at all unless you save one.

What hogline doesn't do

• No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for, so there's no email, name, or password to collect.
• No analytics or tracking. No analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no fingerprinting, no tracking of any kind.
• No third parties. No data is shared with, sold to, or processed by anyone. There are no third-party services in the app at all.
• No location. hogline never asks for or records where you are.

Because nothing is collected, hogline's App Store privacy label reads “Data Not Collected.”

Keeping and deleting your data

You are in complete control of your data, and it exists only in places you control:

• Delete a game (swipe left on the watch, or Edit → Delete Game on iPhone and iPad) and it's gone from that device and, if sync is on, from your iCloud and your other devices.
• Delete the app from a device and all its local data goes with it.
• Manage iCloud data under Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your iPhone.

hogline keeps your games for as long as you keep them, and no copy exists anywhere we could retain. There is nothing for us to delete on your behalf, because we never had it.

This website

Everything above is about the app. This website, hogline.app, counts visits with Plausible, a cookieless analytics service. It records things like which pages are viewed and whether the App Store button is clicked, without cookies, personal data, or anything that identifies you or follows you to other sites.

Children's privacy

hogline does not collect personal information from anyone, children included. The app is suitable for curlers of all ages.

Changes to this policy

If hogline ever changes how it handles data (for example, if a future feature needs something this policy doesn't cover), this page will be updated first, with a new “last updated” date above. The current policy always lives at hogline.app/privacy.
